About

The Backpacking Photographer blog was started by nature and wildlife photographer Kari Post in 2009.  An avid adventurist and lover of nature, Kari began backpacking as a way to spend more time outdoors and combine her love for camping and hiking.  As a photographer, she hoped to use backpacking as a means to explore and photograph new areas of wilderness.

In this blog, Kari and her boyfriend, Chris Kayler, also a nature and wildlife photographer, share gear reviews, travel tips, photographs, suggestions, and stories relating to their experiences combining photography and backpacking.  Since backpacking with photography equipment is a unique challenge requiring specific equipment and planning, Kari and Chris hope to provide other backpacking photographers with insight and inspiration and to help them make safe, informed, decisions regarding photography backpacking trips.
